V2004 Preannouncement
New License System
The V2004 software release will use the industry standard FLEXlm licensing system. This system is more robust and
has more capabilities than the previous system. Due to this switch all customers will have to obtain new license key
codes and install the FLEXlm license server in order to use the V2004 software.
Supported Platforms
The following is a list of the supported platforms for the V2004 release:
- Windows 2000/XP on Intel or AMD (32-bit
- Linux RedHat 8/9 on Intel or AMD (32-bit
- Linux RedHat Enterprise Edition on Intel or AMD (32-bit) - [not available at beta release]
- HP-UX 11.0+ on PA-RISC (64-bit)
- HP-UX 11.22+ on Itanium2 (64-bit)
- IRIX 6.5+ on SGI MIPS (64-bit)
- Solaris 8+ on SUN (64-bit)
Top Reasons to Upgrade
Obviously there are numerous changes to all of the products. Below is a small list of some of the top reasons why you
should consider upgrading to V2004.
CFD-ACE V2004
- Unit Systems Support - now you can setup your model in arbitrary unit systems
- Better Boundary Condition Checking - the GUI only allows appropriate BC types to be set depending on what type of
volume the BC is connected to.
- Moving Grids with Unstructured Meshes - now fluid structure interaction, and other deforming grid problems can be
run on structured and unstructured meshes.
- Parallel Improvements - all parallel text output is now sent to a single file
- Accuracy Improvements - new interpolation schemes have been added which improve accuracy on all mesh types
CFD-GEOM V2004
- ACIS Spline Library - CFD-GEOM now uses the ACIS kernel for all geometric modeling capabilities, improving the
quality, speed, and robustness of geometry and grid creation and manipulation.
- Graphical User Interface - buttons for modeling and grid generation tools now employ larger, more descriptive
icons and are accompanied by a short text description of the tool
- Volume Grid Tools - the extrusion and revolution tools have been reworked to allow the operations to be performed
simultaneously with structured and semi-structured (prism) domains. Also general sweeping and radial extrusion have been added
- Shaded Surface Display - users will notice a substantial speedup in the drawing speed of complex shaded surfaces
- SAT File Export - geometry models can now be exported (with some limitations) to ACIS SAT format files
CFD-VIEW V2004
- Undo/Redo System - all changes to the model (e.g., delete, add, etc.) are now "undoable", most minor changes
(e.g., position changes) are also undoable
- New Line Plotter - improved look, simplified user interfaces, automatic resizing, internal and external plots are
now identical
- Selective Data Reading - when reading DTF files, the user can now select which portion of the data to read. For
example, specific zones, variables, or any combination
- Polygon-based Cutting Planes - lets cutting planes passing through structured meshes look more like a structured system
CFD-CADalyzer V2004
New Geometry Options - bounding box and symmetry split capabilities are now available for parasolid files
Meshing Improvements - significantly improved mesh setup and mesh preview mechanisms
Simulation Advisor - a wizard that guides the user through the model setup process
Post-processing Improvements - many new features: automatic calculation of common quantities, multiple legends with
automatic layout, particle trace animation and many more
Automatic Report Generator - reporting is HTML based and can be viewed or printed from CADalyzer or any web browser
